Mission
The mission of the Department of Community Development and Planning is to support positive change by:
- Improving housing conditions
- Improving public facilities
- Planning and managing sustainable growth
- Promoting economic development
- Protecting and enhancing both the natural and built environment
Duties
To achieve this mission, the Department:
- Coordinates efforts with other City Departments
- Partners with local and regional not-for-profit organizations
- Provides professional and administrative support to the Planning Board, Conservation Commission and Gardner Redevelopment Authority
- Seeks funding from federal, state and private sources to address community needs
