This week is Teacher Appreciation week! Please take a few minutes to share some words of kindness with your student’s teachers and help us to show them how much they are appreciated. On Monday, staff were surprised with some treats by the GMS Admin team and we have a few more surprises planned for later this week.

May is Mental Health Month and is being honored and recognized throughout the country by reaching out to millions of people through the media, local events, and screenings.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the mental health of people of all ages. Now, more than ever, it is critical to reduce the stigma around mental health struggles, because that stigma often prevents individuals from seeking help.

This bulletin board was created to help shed light on this month and start conversations among the GMS community. With the help from two randomly selected 5th graders, Khiana Richardson-Burroughs and Andres Serrano, this board and it's important messages can be seen in our main lobby.

If you'd like more information on Mental Health Awareness Month, you can visit https://www.mhanational.org/mental-health-month. And, if you'd like to talk with someone about your child's mental health, please reach out to your child's school counselor.

Art Club will be held this Wednesday from 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm.

There are 12 spots available for any student who is interested.

Anyone who would like to join should email Ms. Higgins ASAP.

Meetings will be held every other Wednesday from 1:45-3:00 in the Art room

Follow up dates are: 5/26 and 6/9.
