GMS Parents, Guardians, & Students:
Black History Month Spotlight-
History.com has put together a list of resources that celebrate Black History Month. One little known fact that we read was:
The light bulb itself was invented by Thomas Edison, but the innovation used to create longer-lasting light bulbs with a carbon filament came from African American inventor Lewis Latimer. Latimer, the son of formerly enslaved people, began work in a patent law firm after serving in the military for the Union during the Civil War. He was recognized for his talent drafting patents and was promoted to head draftsman, where he co-invented an improved bathroom for railroad trains

COVID Pooled testing-
In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have been working closely with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), and Project Beacon to implement a free COVID-19 pooled testing program for students and staff at our schools. Participation in pooled testing is highly encouraged, but not mandatory for staff or students. Please access more information regarding this testing Gardner Middle School Pooled testing Information
Transportation-
During the winter months our busses may be delayed in picking up or dropping off students due to the road conditions or mechanical issues. Please use the “Here Comes the Bus” app posted below so you can receive the most up-to-date information available regarding the pick-up and drop-off times for your student. Using this app will also allow you to decrease the amount of time your student needs to wait outside, in the cold, for the bus. In order to use this app you must register with the SASID number assigned to your student. The directions for finding this number are also linked below.
