GMS Parents & Students:

We are in the final stretch of preparing for the virtual return to school for our students and are looking forward to a great year.  As a reminder, all Gardner Public Schools will be starting remote learning on September 15, 2020.  Below please find some tips and suggestions to help students to prepare for the first day of school and virtual learning as well as reduce the anxiety some of you may be feeling about coming into a new school and starting off school in a non-traditional way.

How can I best prepare for the first day of school?

  • Log into your Plusportals account and review your schedule.  **We are running on a 3 day schedule during remote learning- You will see one column for Monday/Wednesday classes, another column for Tuesday/Thursday classes and a third column for Friday classes.  THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IS A TUESDAY!

  • Take a look at the order of your classes and the times when they are scheduled (Use the grade levels linked below to help you with this.  As mentioned last week, the UA classes (Gym, Art, Music, Stem, Robotics and Health) will be changing every two weeks. **Due to constraints with our scheduling program, students may not have the two UA classes noted on their schedules for the first cycle, although they will have them in the first quarter.

  • Check your school email account.  Teachers have been reaching out to students this week to welcome them and invite them to join their Google classrooms

  • Set-up a  quiet work space with your computer, some paper, pencils

On Tuesday, September 15th:

  • Wake up between 7:30-8:30 a.m.

  • Have breakfast and get prepared for the day

  • Between 8:15-8:25 a.m. start up your computer and access the Google classroom for your “C Block” class for grades 5 & 7, and the first Unified Arts class for grade 6 students.

**If you are difficulty getting into Google classroom:

  • First, check your school email for the Google classroom code

  • If you can’t find this email, try logging into Plusportals, click on the class you are scheduled to be in and scroll down to find the Google classroom code.

  • If neither of these hints help to resolve your issue, please call your School Counselor
