[ARCHIVED] The City of Gardner Goes Green With Electric Vehicle

The City of Gardner has purchased their first 100% electric vehicle and installed a publically accessable charging station at City Hall.  This is the City's first EV charging station and vehicle was made possible through the Green Communities grant.  

The City purchased a a zero emission 2019 Nissan Leaf which gets an average range of 170 miles to the charge.  

The Clipper Creek charging stations are located behind City Hall with a dedicated space made availalbe to the public.  

Rebates, discounts and incentives are available for Gardner Residents

There are several rebates and incentives available to EV owners in Gardner:

  • Natinoal Grid is offering a $5,000 rebate on Nissan Leaf's through July 1, 2019.
  • Massachusetts offers rebates to EV owners through the MOR-EV program. If you buy or lease an eligible EV you can apply a rebate of $1,500 within 3 months of the purchase/lease date. 
  • A Federal Tax Credit of up to $7,500 is available for EV owners. The credit varies depend on the type of vehicle and your tax liability and is only available to the owner of the car (if you lease, the dealer gets the credit and may pass on some of the benefits).
  • Green Energy Consumers Alliance provides discounts on qualified EVs purchased or leased from participating dealerships. The discount program is available to all customers.
