Welcome back Gardner Academy families, 

I hope you all had a wonderful and safe summer vacation.  We here at the school are very excited for the upcoming year.  We have spent some time this summer looking back at last year and reviewing how to improve on an already great experience.  We have come up with some new and exciting things for the 2022-2023 school year.

As you know we are committed to the success of your student.  Here at the academy we hold on to the idea that we fit the school to the needs of your child.  One way to accomplish this is to provide stability in their day and their learning environment.   Students will return to school on Sept. 6th to our new location at 160 Elm St.(The old Elm St. school).  The first day will be a half-day schedule with the students being dismissed at 10:30.  They will receive their schedules on that day at the school.  Students will return on Sept. 7th for a full day schedule. 

This year the bell schedule has changed, as have our hours.  Our school day will have a later start.  Our doors will open at 7:35.  Classes will begin at 7:50 and run to 1:53 on campus.  The last period of the day will be off campus and run from 1:53-2:45.  Our early dismissal time will be at 10:30 throughout the year. Please see the table below for our bell schedule. 

We will finally be able to hold our “Open house/Welcome back” ceremony in person this year on Sept. 12th 5-7pm.  All are invited to attend.  At this ceremony you will get to meet us and speak with us so we can partner together to meet your child’s needs and help them be successful.  Also, we will be going over our policies and routine with everyone and discuss your role and responsibilities in our school.  There will be food provided to help celebrate our return and our new location and facilities.  It is imperative that you be here to learn about our new policies and procedures and how it will affect you and your child. 

Just like last year, buses will run based on the district bus schedule.  Please see our district website for routes and times.  If your student takes a bus, they will get on the assigned AM bus and go to GHS.  They will then take the designated transfer bus to GA.  For the PM bus there will be a single run bus that will make 6 stops at different points in the city.  If you need to sign your student up for a bus please contact us at 978-632-1606.

Our entire district has changed database systems from Rediker to Powerschool.  This will mean that you will have a different access point to look at your student’s page.  More information will be forthcoming very soon. 

There have also been several changes to our staff.  As you remember, Mr. Heglin stepped up and helped GHS in their time of need filling a position in that school.  He has decided to take the opportunity afforded him to expand on his career and stay at GHS.  Ms. Dauphinais also stepped up to fill a position at GHS that needed to be filled. 

Finally, our very own Mr. Marchetti has taken an opportunity to expand on his career and took a position outside the district.  I personally cannot thank them enough.  Their impact here was immeasurable.  Although we will miss them, they will always be a part of our family.  We wish them good fortune in their decision and thank them for all they have done. 

Finally, we look forward to a new year and a new chance for the success of your child.  We cherish every day that we have to make your student successful both academically and in life.  We also look forward in working with you instill a great future for your child.  See you on the 6th.
