Responsibilities


The Gardner Housing Authority (GHA) administers a variety of housing programs sponsored by both the State and Federal Government.

These programs include:
  • Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program (private sector apartments with rents subsidized by the Federal Government)
  • State-Aided Family, Elderly / Handicapped units
  • Shared living in Congregate Elderly Housing (these apartments are owned by the State and managed by the GHA).

Massachusetts Section 8 Centralized Waiting List

The Massachusetts Section 8 Centralized Waiting List is a partnership of 101 Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts which streamlines their application process for a Section 8 Voucher. The centralized waiting list opened on January 6, 2003 and will remain open and accept applications indefinitely.
