Volunteer and Community Service Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunities:
The City of Gardner offers volunteer opportunities in two (2) City Departments, the Animal Control Facility and the Council on Aging. Volunteer work at these locations include:
- Animal Control Facility - Clerical support, fundraising, facility cleaning, animal care area cleaning, animal socializing, dog walking and special projects.
- Council on Aging - Clerical support, fundraising, facility cleaning and special projects.

Community Service Opportunities:
The City of Gardner offers limited Court or Agency ordered community service opportunities.
- Court ordered community service volunteers are accepted under the following criteria:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Misdemeanors only.
- No crimes toward children.
- No crimes of violence.
- No crimes of theft.
- Agency ordered community services are accepted for individuals directed to provide services for the receipt of financial aid.
Individuals seeking community service opportunities must complete a
Community Service Application.

Volunteer and Community Service Applications should be completed and forwarded to the Director of Personnel, City of Gardner, 95 Pleasant Street, Room 128, Gardner, MA 01440 or emailed to
dpond@gardner-ma.gov. All positions are contingent upon completion and review of a criminal background check. Filling of volunteer or community service opportunities will be based upon availability. The City of Gardner can refuse volunteers for any reasonable cause.
