Volunteer and Community Service Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunities:
The City of Gardner offers volunteer opportunities in two (2) City Departments, the Animal Control Facility and the Council on Aging. Volunteer work at these locations include:
- Animal Control Facility - Clerical support, fundraising, facility cleaning, animal care area cleaning, animal socializing, dog walking and special projects.
- Council on Aging - Clerical support, fundraising, facility cleaning and special projects.

Community Service Opportunities:
The City of Gardner offers limited Court or Agency ordered community service opportunities.
- Court ordered community service volunteers are accepted under the following criteria:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Misdemeanors only.
- No crimes toward children.
- No crimes of violence.
- No crimes of theft.
- Agency ordered community services are accepted for individuals directed to provide services for the receipt of financial aid.
Form:
Volunteer and Community Service Applications should be completed and forwarded to the Director of Personnel, City of Gardner, 95 Pleasant Street, Room 128, Gardner, MA 01440 or emailed to dpond@gardner-ma.gov. All positions are contingent upon completion and review of a criminal background check. Filling of volunteer or community service opportunities will be based upon availability. The City of Gardner can refuse volunteers for any reasonable cause.
