Public Parking in Gardner's Downtown Area
There are two options for public parking in Gardner's Downtown area, including:
- Metered on-street parking ($0.25 per half hour)
- Free parking lots (some time limits do apply)
The 30-minute, 1-hour and 2-hour meters are patrolled and those vehicles parked beyond the maximum limit will be given a violation notice. Moving a vehicle to another spot to avoid the maximum limit is not allowed and a violation notice will be issued.
Winter Parking Ban
For the duration of the all night parking ban, November 15th to April 1st, the operator of any vehicle or trailer, other than one acting in an emergency, shall not be allowed to park on any public way, highway or parking lot under the control of the City, except in designated areas. (Ordinance Number 48, Article 5, Section 7(a) of the City of Gardner) Those found to be in violation of this regulation are subject to a fine of $15.00 per violation.
In the event of snow prior to November 15th or after April 1st, a parking ban will become effective at that time and violations will be issued.
In the case of a parked motor vehicle or trailer which interferes or obstructs removal of snow and ice, additional fines and towing shall apply. (Ordinance Number 38 of the City of Gardner) Should a vehicle be towed, in addition to the fine, the vehicle owner is responsible for towing and storage costs.
