SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
Monday evening, July 20, 2009. Special Meeting of the City Council held in the Council Chambers, City Hall.~ Meeting called by President Janssens at 6:30 p.m.
Roll call taken – 8 members present, 3 absent (Councillors Boudreau, Graves and
Robinson.
President Janssens called for nominations for the position of CITY CLERK.
On a motion by Councillor Jaillet, seconded by Councillor Minns, it was voted to open nominations for City Clerk.
Councillor Jaillet, nominated ALAN L. AGNELLI as CITY CLERK for a term expiring January 4, 2010 (to fill the unexpired term of Kathleen M. Lesneski). The nomination was seconded by Councillor Minns.
On a motion by Councillor Dembrosky, seconded by Councillor R. Cormier, it was voted 8 yeas, 3 absent (Councillors Boudreau, Graves and Robinson) to close nominations.
On roll call vote taken, 8 members voting ALAN L. AGNELLI, ALAN L. AGNELLI was elected CITY CLERK for a term expiring January 4, 2010.

It was moved by Councillor R. Cormier, seconded by Councillor Ares, to amend Ordinance #41 relating to Classification and Compensation of Officers, Employees and Personnel of the Police and Fire Departments section 5A, department heads to be changed as follows: the City Clerk/Tax Collector shall be changed to read~City Clerk with salaries effective 7/1/09 - $55,000; 1/1/2010 - $57,500; 7/1/2010 - $60,000.~ It should also state that this includes compensation as defined under MGL, c. 41, Section 19F, Section 19G, and Section 19H.~
It was moved by Councillor Dembrosky, seconded by Councillor J. Cormier, to refer the ordinance to the Finance Committee for further study. On a vote of two in favor (Dembrosky, Minns), six opposed (Ares, Anderson, J. Cormier, R. Cormier, Jaillet, President Janssens), the motion was defeated.
On a motion by Councillor R. Cormier, seconded by Councillor Jaillet, it voted by a show of hands 8 in favor, 3 absent (Councillors Boudreau, Graves and Robinson) to order to a First Printing, the following:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION
OF OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES AND PERSONNEL OF THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS, SECTIONS VA- DEPARTMENT HEADS – CITY CLERK

On a motion by Councillor R. Cormier, seconded by Councillor J. Cormier, it was to adjourn the meeting at 7:38pm.
