Uptown National Register Historic District Walking Tour. Immediately following the plaque dedication, participants will be offered a walking tour of Gardner’s original town center. This will be a “walk around the block” from Central St. down Chestnut St. to Walnut St. over to Elm St. and back up Elm St. to the Old Burying Ground. Various structures of architectural significance will be discussed such as the Gothic church, the octagon house, an old silver factory, what was once considered a hi-tech fire house, and the
Richardson Romanesque museum. Discussion will also include the homes of some of the city’s early industrialists, businessmen, and political leaders.
