Health Department
- The Gardner Health Department strives to provide a safe and sanitary environment for the residents of Gardner.
- The Health Department provides inspections of restaurants, markets, beaches, pools, camps, housing, and other facilities.
- The Health Department sponsors flu immunization clinics for Gardner residents in the Fall and rabies immunization clinics for cats and dogs in the spring. The department is also a regional distribution center for vaccines to area physicians and hospitals.
- The Health Department operates the Gardner Transfer Station and helps to oversee curbside collection of trash and recyclables. Gardner has one of the highest recycling rates in Massachusetts-43%
- The Board of Health is the approving authority for wells and septic systems in Gardner.
Transfer Station News
The Gardner Board of Health would like to inform residents that the 2007-2008 Transfer Station stickers to go to the Gardner Transfer Station on West Street are now available in the B.O.H. office for a fee of $50, which will be valid until June 30, 2008. The office hours to obtain your sticker are Monday through Thursday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM, and Friday 8:00AM to 4:00PM.
Please place all PAPER yard waste bags, open barrels or boxes with leaves, grass and all other easily raked materials at curbside with your trash barrel. Branches less than 2 inches in diameter, not to exceed 3 feet long may be bundled and left by your yard waste for pickup. There is no limit to the amount of yard waste bags, barrels or boxes for each household.
