The Gardner Animal Control Dept. Protects, Educates, and Enforces.

Protects-Gardner Animal Control officers protect the rights of animal owners and non-owners, and interests of animals alike. The Animal Control Officers are responsible for providing and maintaining a safe environment. For citizens, this means protection against animal disease or harm, uncontrolled pets, and wildlife; for animals, this means conditions free of abuse.

Educates-Animal Control Officers educate citizens about animal safety. Officers educate owners about responsible pet care, as well as the need for rabies vaccinations and the licensing of pets.

Enforces-Animal Control Officers enforce City of Gardner ordinances and Mass General laws concerning animals.

Mass General Law requires:

ALL cats and dogs are to be vaccinated against Rabies
ALL dogs’ 6 months and older are licensed within the City or Town in which they reside.

The City Clerk issues all dog licenses. Dog license renewals are due every March in the City of Gardner. Please bring in a copy of the rabies certificate. To get a reduced fee, bring in a copy of the spayed or neutered certificate.

For your convenience you may also license by mail. Send certificates and proper fees (see below) to the City Clerk's office, c/o Gardner City Hall, 95 Pleasant Street, and a license will be mailed back to you.

Male/Female LICENSES $ 11.00 Neutered/Spayed LICENSE $ 7.00 Late Penalty $ 10.00 DUPLICATE TAG $ 1.00
