Mayor's Biography
Mayor Mark Hawke began his term of office on January 7, 2008. At the age of 35, Mayor Hawke became the City's fourth youngest Mayor behind former Mayors Stephen Erickson (21), Alan Agnelli (23) and Gerald St. Hilaire (31).

Mayor Hawke attended Gardner public schools and graduated from Gardner High School in 1990 as a three sport letterman. He then went on to earn his Associates degree from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1993, Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1995, and his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Anna Maria College in 2001.

Until his election, Mayor Hawke served as the City of Gardner's Grants Administrator for over six years. Prior to his employment with the City, Mayor Hawke worked in the private sector as a Business Analyst for a wireless communications company, an Operations Manager for a transportation company and a Logistics Analyst for a waste management company.

Mayor Hawke has always been involved in his community and has served as President of Gardner Square Two (Gardner's Downtown Association), on the Board of Directors of the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce, and continues to serve on the Board of Trustees at Mount Wachusett Community College. Mayor Hawke is also an active member of the Acadien Club of Gardner, Napoleon Club of Gardner, Gardner Museum, Acadien Club Hockey League and City League Softball.

Mayor Hawke is the youngest of former State Representative Robert and Nancy Hawke's five children. Mark is married to Shelly (Sullivan) Hawke.
