The Engineering Department furnishes engineering services and technical advice to the various departments of City government on matters relating to public and private construction projects and municipal infrastructure.
The Engineering Department also maintains custody of plans of streets, sanitary sewers, water mains, storm drains, sidewalks, bridges, dams and other facilities owned by the City, as well as the Assessor’s maps of individual land parcels and their updates on a regular basis.
The Engineering Department, utilizing GIS (Geographic Information Systems), creates digital maps with associated data bases to assist all City departments in their efforts to analyze and disseminate information.
