  1. Planning Board

    The Planning Board is authorized under Massachusetts General Laws (MGL) Chapter 41 to regulate the subdivision of land, the laying out and construction of roadways and installation of municipal services in subdivisions, and the improvement and sale of lots within a subdivision.

  2. Public Safety Committee

    The Public Safety Committee is charged with evaluating and reporting on matters referred to it by the full Council or on their own initiative concerning municipal functions relating to public health and safety.

  3. Public Service Committee

    The Public Service Committee is charged with evaluating and reporting on matters referred to it by the full Council or on their own initiative concerning municipal functions relating to the Public Works Department and its divisions.

  4. Public Welfare Committee

    The Public Welfare Committee is charged with evaluating and reporting to the Council on matters referred to them by the full Council or on their own initiative concerning municipal functions relating to several city agencies.

  5. Retirement Board

    The Gardner Retirement Board is committed to the professional, prudent, and efficient administration of the Gardner Contributory Retirement System.

  6. School Committee

    The mission of the Gardner Public School System is to create an environment to enable students to think critically, communicate effectively, work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate sufficient academic competencies and skills to compete effectively in a diverse democratic society.

  7. Traffic Commission

    The main function of this commission is to make recommendations, based on studies and reports, to the City Council regarding changes to the Traffic Ordinance (Ordinance 48).

  8. Weights & Measures

    This group is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of measuring & weighing devices as well as gas & oil dispensing devices.

  9. Williams-Rockwell Committee

    Trustees of The Williams-Rockwell Educational Gift Fund Committee oversee the investment and disbursement of gifts, scholarships, and funds under their auspices.

  10. Youth Commission

    Gardner Youth Commission is a community organization aimed at bringing the youth and community together, and supporting the Gardner youth population.
